Meet Our Goalie Coaches

Cultivating young goalies, focusing on personal excellence and the joy of the game.

Cam Smith – Owner & Lead Instructor

Cam Smith is the owner and lead instructor of FTK Goaltending. Cam grew up playing minor hockey in the Brantford and Hamilton areas before transitioning into Senior hockey, where he continues to play in the OEHL. After minor hockey, Cam also began his coaching career and has now been coaching goaltenders for over six years.

Cam is OHF certified as a Third-Party Goaltending Instructor and has worked with numerous hockey organizations and programs throughout his coaching career. With experience both playing and coaching at the Senior level, Cam brings a strong understanding of the position and what it takes to compete at a high level. His goal is to help every goaltender improve their technique, build confidence, and reach the next level of their development.

Greg White – Instructor

Greg grew up playing goalie for ‘A’ hockey in St. Thomas from the age of 6. He knew goalie was for him from the moment he put skates on. In Peewee his team won the OMHA Championships, Silver at the OHF finals, and Bronze at the International Silver Stick finals in Port Huron. After that season, he made the jump to ‘AAA” where he played for the Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs. Following his Bantam season in ‘AAA’, Greg made the jump to Junior playing for the Port Stanley Lakers. He was 17. The following seasons he played for Port Stanley Junior ‘D’, St. Thomas Junior ‘B’, and Aylmer Junior ‘C’, before a brief stint with the Belmont Bombers Junior ‘D’ club in his over-age year.

Greg has been named MVP of several of his teams throughout the years, and was even voted captain on several of his teams, even though goalies cannot be captains. He also won the goalie of the year award with St Thomas Minor Hockey Association.

Most recently Greg represented Canada at the World Cup of Roller Hockey in Germany where his team won bronze. He also represented Canada at the North American Roller Hockey Championships. He continues to play both ice and roller hockey whenever he gets the chance; and enjoys teaching his kids about the game. His passion is teaching goalies the position to help them on their path to success, something he wishes he could have had access to throughout his playing years.

As well as being registered with the OHF as a third party instructor for goaltending; Greg is a certified Personal Trainer with a Level ‘C’ CPR certificate, and uses that knowledge to help instruct quick and powerful movements on the ice with a focus on endurance and form, as well as train goalies off-ice, to help them see improvement on the ice.

Abbie Brook – Goaltending Coach

Abbie Brook brings a player-first approach to goaltending development, combining technical training with confidence, character, and a genuine connection with every goalie she works with.

Abbie began her hockey journey with the Brantford Girls Hockey Association, progressing from U13 house league through to U22 A and is now talking the time to improve and refine her skills both on and off the ice to further her goaltending career wherever she goes in the upcoming years. Her experience as a goaltender gives her a firsthand understanding of the challenges, confidence, and mindset required to play between the pipes.

For the past four years, Abbie has coached with FTK Goaltending, working with goalies of all ages and experience levels—from athletes stepping onto the ice for the very first time to elite-level goaltenders looking to refine their game.

Her coaching philosophy goes beyond the scoreboard. Abbie believes that player development and character-building are just as important as performance. She takes the time to build meaningful relationships with her goalies, creating an environment where every athlete feels seen, supported, and challenged to grow.

Abbie specializes in footwork, positioning, overall performance, and building confidence in the crease. Her sessions are personalized to each goalie’s individual needs, with an emphasis on creating an experience that is both purposeful and fun.

Whether a goalie is learning the fundamentals or working toward the next level of their career, Abbie’s goal is simple: help every goalie leave the ice feeling more confident, capable, and excited to keep improving.
